What we love
I highly recommend the Chedi for the exceptional quality of the food and the stunning Long Pool, fringed by palm trees
Setting the scene
The Chedi is close to the airport but beautifully serene with the immaculately landscaped grounds encompassing three swimming pools, a stretch of beach and a water garden. The hotel is framed by the mountains and was built to reflect traditional Omani architecture with splashes of Far Eastern influences.
There are 158 rooms and suites at The Chedi Muscat. Eight Deluxe Club Rooms and thirty-eight Chedi Club Suites offer access to The Club Lounge, while the Chedi Club Suites with their magnificent sea and land views add exclusive landscaped gardens. The Deluxe Club rooms and the Chedi Club suites would be our suggestion here, they come with divine sunken bathtubs, rainwater showers, a private terrace and a separate living room. All of the rooms have high ceilings to help disperse the heat and are invitingly relaxing in their Asian-Zen theme.
The food here is amazing and the chefs are in full display as they work in open-plan kitchens. Six restaurants and two lounges span all tastes from Mediterranean to Middle Eastern, Indian and Southeast Asian. For authentic Arabian cuisine, head to The Arabian Court, alternatively the Restaurant offers Mediterranean, Asian, Indian and Arab fare while the Beach Restaurant guests can fine dine al fresco with inspired seafood meals. It is also possible to take an Omani cooking class at the Beach Restaurant which is a must!
We strongly suggest a desert camp experience in Wahibi Sands during your stay, alternatively you can go offshore into the Gulf of Oman to watch some dolphins, or go fishing or snorkelling to explore the colourful marine life. Also popular in this region are hiking and mountain biking, which can all be arranged through the hotel during your stay. Whilst the hotel doesn't have the most expansive beach, The Chedi Muscat's extensive spa, three lush swimming pools and oasis-like gardens definitely make up for it! The hotel also houses tennis courts and a fitness centre complete with pilates.
Although children are not actively discouraged parents will already have noted the no kids pools, neither is there any special provision for them here.
The Chedi Muscat is 17km away, approximately a 15-minute road transfer from the airport.
